Kristel Smith named to advisory board

Kristel Smith

Kristel Smith, Exeuctive Director of the Kentucky Innovation Network at Eastern Kentucky University, has been named by the Kentucky Arts Council as one of 12 community leaders and business executives to an advisory board for the Kentucky Creative Industry research study that it commissioned in January. The group, a diverse mix of professionals representing the business, arts and tourism industries, will help Mt. Auburn Associates, the firm conducting the study, as they work to quantify the activities of Kentucky’s creative industry.

Conducted by Mt. Auburn Associates and commissioned by the arts council, the Kentucky Creative Industry research study will include a baseline assessment of the commonwealth’s creative industry and will serve as a critical tool for future planning and policy development. The final report will cover research and analysis of Kentucky’s creative and cultural assets, and will also include an examination of relationships between creative industries and other clusters in the state’s economy, a look at key stakeholders to evaluate the broad spectrum of the arts in Kentucky and more.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
